NUTRITION AT STEPHEN GAYNOR SCHOOL
Our daily meals for growing bodies focus on optimal nutritional impact. Offerings consist of a wide variety of protein sources (both animal and plant-based), whole grains, legumes, dairy, healthy fats, and the freshest fruits and vegetables. Menus are designed to reflect seasonal availability and the special dietary needs of the Stephen Gaynor School community.
All menu items are prepared fresh daily by our commissary kitchen staff, who work to oversee that all preparation meets or exceeds our professional standards. Our menus follow our food philosophy and:
Reflect the season and Stephen Gaynor School community’s preferences
Balance between nourishing and popular
Utilize standard recipes to provide consistent flavor and quality
Are built upon a rotation for variety and interest
Meal Variety
We provide a variety of offerings so that there is something for everyone! On any given day, you can be sure to find a hot entree, a vegetarian/vegan hot entree, and complementary seasonal vegetable side, as well as a whole grain, potato, rice, or pasta side. Students also have a choice of the sandwich of the day, or a green salad, which they can then dress themselves with fresh vegetables, toppings, and housemade salad dressings. Allergen-free (big 9 allergens) or special dietary alternative meals are available daily. Fresh, whole fruit is also available every day.
Desserts consist of fresh, seasonal, whole or cut fruit Monday through Thursday. Friday may include one of the following: fresh-baked cookie or brownie, fresh-baked banana bread, or zucchini bread.
