OUR ALLERGEN POLICY

The safety of your school’s community is of the upmost importance.

Training
Our Cater To You Master Trainer trains all management and staff team members annually utilizing AllerTrain™ Allergy and Gluten-Free Food Service Training approved by the American Culinary Federation, and ServSafe® Allergens certification course from the National Restaurant Association. New employees go through an allergen awareness training program during onboarding. Additionally, all culinary management staff undergo a separate training through AllerTrain™ for a five-year certification. Every training teaches food-handling procedures to ensure safe preparation and delivery of meals to diners with food allergies, intolerances, or Celiac Disease.

Our Proprietary Allergen Database
CTYFS requires that the on-site medical staff/RN provide a completed online food allergy information form for each student with a food allergy to CTYFS by the start of the new school year via our proprietary FORM database. This protocol allows for each student’s information to be entered into the school’s own personal database where it is stored and can be amended in the future if necessary. Once the form is submitted electronically the chef, as well as our Director of Wellness, will immediately be notified via email. This allows the kitchen staff to receive dietary changes in real time.

Accommodations
We can accommodate separate meals that meet special dietary requirements or that are allergy-friendly (big 9 allergens) with our kitchen limitations in mind. CTYFS is happy to collaborate with parents and their child(ren) who require specific dietary focus. Our Chef Manager, Registered Dietitian, and Director of Wellness are available to meet with your nurse and any student, parent, or staff member and walk them through the menu, explain preparations, and review kitchen limitations and capabilities.

Allergen Policy
In collaboration with FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) CTYFS has an Allergen Policy for its schools. The policy outlines the roles and responsibilities between parents, school, and CTYFS.

Cater To You does not prepare or serve meals which it knows or has reason to believe contain peanuts and/or tree-nuts. Notwithstanding the efforts of Cater To You to maintain an environment free of peanuts, tree nuts, it may inadvertently use food items from outside vendors which, despite its requirements, have been produced in a facility which also processes those allergens. There is also a possibility that manufacturers of the commercial foods we use could change the formulation at any time, without notice.
